And you want a place that you love, with inviting rooms that make you smile, and where friends love to visit. As a designer and mother of six, she knew she could help people by putting together a practical guide, filled with doable tips, and gentle advice on what has worked for her big, active family. As a thought leader for over 15 years, Gabrielle has written and moderated hundreds of discussions on difficult topics, and interviewed some of the most influential people in the world. Her writing is quoted and shared across the globe daily. Gabrielle and her husband, Ben Blair, have six children — Ralph, Maude, Olive, Oscar, Betty, and Flora June. After six years in Oakland, they moved to a small town in Normandy, France where they are renovating a house from the 1600s.

I got quite practiced at recording and editing. I made progress on the podcast branding. When we bought the Tall House, we set aside budget for its renovation, but not for two renovations. So I’m trying to figure out how to fund work on the Small House. “I’ve been known for lots of different things,” she said.

The first book was “telling you, ‘here’s how to live with kids,’” and the new book is “‘here’s how to avoid having them,’” she said. She knows you love your kids and want to create a haven for them. A place where they can relax, and feel safe and loved. A home where they can pursue their interests and stretch their creative muscles. She also knows you long for a beautiful home.

Ania is a diplomat’s wife, among many other things, but that’s the part of her that brought them to this home in Denmark. It’s also the part that seems to be breaking her heart a little these days, as you’ll read near the end of her interview. She’s got some truly lovely, stick-to-your-soul thoughts about raising kids in a somewhat transient lifestyle, knowing full well your home won’t be your home in a few short years. I read this article in the Wall Street Journal about well-done steak shame and I laughed because I totally relate. It’s like a have the taste buds of a 5 year old, but I can’t help it; I much prefer the texture of well-done steak. I don’t like rare or medium rare at all.

I think you're going to love reading Design Mom. Moms don’t know how and when to stop loving and caring. Their love isn’t restricted; it grows to touch every aspect of their lives, and that counts their work as well. In this article, we discussed a few moms who make the best of designers and some potential hows and whys that will definitely inspire the working moms across the globe.

Here are some of the projects on my mind for 2022. After working in New York City as an art director, Gabrielle Blair started Design Mom as a hobby. She had just had baby number 5 (baby number six came a few years later), and blogging seemed like a good a way for her to connect with other women when she was up with middle of the night feedings. She started writing essays, sharing parenting advice and interesting finds that she had picked up as a young mother and designer — and the blog took off. “Being a mother is one of the most important roles in life. For this Mother’s Day, I have designed the ‘Her Love & Gratitude’ necklace to express immense gratitude and honor all mothers,” Trump said in a statement Sunday to The Hill.

Yes, I shouldn’t care about anyone’s reaction, but sometimes I’m just not in the mood for a lecture. If you do check out the measurements, you’ll see that the house has lots of rooms, but they are fairly small rooms. In fact, the largest room in the house is actually in the attic.

For the music-loving moms, these Artbook Shelf Speakers from Ojas are design objects in their own right. The perfect addition to amplify family nights at home. As an expression of gratitude, Mother’s Day is a moment for families to take the load off moms’ shoulders and cherish them for all they do for their families. It’s a day for quality family time, self care, and yes, gift giving. I haven’t thought much about doing a show since that call in June.

Throughout motherhood, I’ve turned to functional luxury more and more. This Bottega travel pouch is versatile and timeless. Personalizing jewelry always adds sentiment.

Well, you’ll be glad to know you’re not the only one. Life with kids is ever-changing — this month it’s all about gymnastics, but next month might be swimming, or debate, or Legos, or cooking. Which means you need a house and systems that are flexible and adaptable.

I haven’t shared it yet, but I’m excited to show you. The Tall House & The Small House As far as the BIG renovation projects go, I’m happy to report the Tall House is pretty much complete. Which means I am now in the decorating phase — trying to find the right rugs for each room, thinking about art work (a mural?) in the stairwell, figuring out wallpaper for Flora June’s bedroom.

We’ll walk you through 20 mentions of the juggernaut mothers reining the design field, making the best of both worlds out there. And yeah, we’ll also give the whys and hows. Design Mom is all about the intersection of design and motherhood. I'm Gabrielle Blair (some people call me Gabby), a designer and mother of six.
